Data & Systems Project Manager  

£36,673 - £42,320 per annum + £8,890 accountancy allowance
The Team

The Transformation team are at the heart of delivering DIT’s ambitious two-year Transformation Programme to improve financial management right across the department.  This Programme is divided into three workstreams: Organisation Design and Change; Data and Systems; and Policy and Processes. Each workstream has a dedicated Grade 7 lead, supported by an SEO project manager. The team will be vital in ensuring the success of not only the transformation programme but how the department functions over the coming years.

The Role

Working to the Data & Systems G7 workstream lead, this role will be responsible for managing system related projects. The role will include identifying and delivering tactical improvements to the existing systems, whilst developing and delivering a strategy for IT systems over a 24-month period.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Systems accountant for all existing Finance systems, maintaining performance continuity and addressing issues as they arise.

  • Develop a Finance Systems Strategy for DIT.

  • Evaluate, select, procure and implement new management information collation, reporting and analytics tool.

  • Work with the Policy and Process Lead to investigate opportunities to reduce manual intervention required by automating some of the manual rekeying work.

  • Develop mechanism for recording official development assistance (ODA) expenditure.

  • Pilot and implement a new customer portal for current Oracle System.

  • Ensure that DIT requirements are incorporated into the designs of the new enterprise resource planning tools to be implemented overseas and in the UK.

The Person

Required Experience

Essential:

  • Experience of selecting, designing, configuring, testing, implementing and embedding new systems.

  • Awareness of month end financial processes.

  • Experience of managing third party technical suppliers.

  • Using new technologies to automate or simplify processes.

  • Engaging and influencing colleagues to accept and support the proposed change.

  • Embedding change and realising benefits across a complex working environment.

 

Desirable:

  • Experience of working with Oracle E-Business Suite

  • Experience of implementing new MI Tools

  • Experience of delivering business change projects including the use of project and programme management techniques
