Whatever your role, we take your career and development seriously, and want to enable you to build a really successful career with the Department and wider Civil Service. It is crucial that our employees have the right skills to deliver in their roles, develop their careers and meet the challenges ahead so you’ll benefit from regular performance and development reviews to ensure this development is ongoing. As a Civil Service employee, you’ll be entitled to a large range of benefits.

The starting salary for each role will normally be paid at the band minimum. It may however be possible to for those applying from outside of the Civil Service to negotiate a higher starting salary within the current pay range based on your previous experience and current salary. For those applying from within the Civil Service, normal pay rules will apply i.e.  those who join on level transfer will join on their current salary or the minima of DIT’s payband for that grade if this is higher; those transferring on promotion will receive the minima of DIT’s pay band for that grade or their salary plus 10% if this is higher.

Staff  occupying designated accountancy posts, who have passed the final stage of full accountancy exams, offered by professional accountancy bodies recognised by the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB) will receive the full accountancy allowance shown per annum.

The Civil Service values and supports all its employees.
