Thank you for your interest in the Finance roles we are currently recruiting to at Barts Health NHS Trust. The Barts Health Trust Group is a breath-taking organisation in terms of scale and services.

This is a pivotal time for the Trust. Barts Health is recognised both internally and externally to be on a journey of continuous improvement, exiting quality special measures in 2019 following a much improved CQC report across all of our sites, and a rating of ‘good’ for well-led at the Group level. We have recently exited financial special measures too, which represents a remarkable turnaround in both quality and financial stewardship, putting us on an excellent basis for further improvement. Exiting special measures also prompts the next necessary step change in our improvement journey towards being an “outstanding” organisation and this role will be a key part of ensuring we achieve that ambition.

I have now been at the Trust for nearly 2 years, after spending three years as CFO at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust. I was brought in as CFO to help strengthen this next stage of our improvement journey. I was very much attracted to the values of Barts Health, particularly our overarching objective of being an inclusive employer and reaching into our community, but am also excited by the improvement journey the Trust is on, and so I hope you also will want to be part of this too.

The Board and Executive Team are very much committed to living our values, delivering world-class healthcare and to ensuring the Trust remains fit to do so both now and in the future. Our strategy therefore is to continue to drive forward quality and efficiency improvements at increasing scale through the evolution of our group model, with the clear aim to devolve more authority to our hospital sites over time.

These are demanding, high profile roles across one of the largest Trusts in the country and we are looking to attract the best candidates. As such, the roles offer unparalleled personal development, job satisfaction and career opportunities both within the Barts Health Group and beyond. These are also just some of the values that have helped shape our WeCare values which we hope will shape everything that we do, every single day. They are visible in every interaction we have with each other, our patients, their families and our partners. More information around the WeCare values can be found in your applicant pack.

I would very much encourage you to apply for the role and either I, or a member of my team would be very happy to meet interested candidates informally to discuss the role and prospects in more detail.

We operate from four major hospital sites (The Royal London, St Bartholomew’s, Whipps Cross and Newham) and a number of community locations, including Mile End hospital. Around 2.5 million people living in east London look to our services to provide them with the healthcare that they need and we are an active partner in the North East London Integrated Care System.
