Welcome

Thank you for your interest in joining Spelthorne.

This is a really exciting time to become a member of the Spelthorne finance team, as we progress our ambitious plans to deliver, from a standing start in 2018, more than a 1,000 homes for our residents and undertake major regeneration schemes in the Borough. Additionally we continue to manage our £1 billion property portfolio which so far has weathered very well the COVID-19 crisis.  The Council has used some of the income from its commercial assets to invest in improving service resilience and this has included investing in the Finance team with the Technical Accountant being a new post.  The team is very much central to the long term management and scenario planning for the commercial assets’ Sinking Funds which are being built up from setting aside part of the rental income each year and currently stand at £20m.

Spelthorne, is a fast paced council, ambitious for its residents and business friendly, with a flair for creativity and innovation. Our greatest assets are our staff, who we valued and invest in. The Council is striving to continuously improve. For the right people this means there is plenty of opportunity to develop and grow with us as we deliver our strategic objectives.

Prior to COVID-19, the Council in February had balanced its budget not just for 2020-21 but also for 2021-22 and 2022-23. Obviously COVID-19 has brought new challenges but the Council is better placed to respond than most, and these roles will play a key role in helping to ensure the Council continues to maintain its strong financial position.

The Council offers a number of benefits, including competitive remuneration, we have recently moved to a local pay agreement which aspires to achieve slightly more than the national pay agreement, free parking, potential for flexible working and excellent pensions. Spelthorne is a fantastic place to work.
