Thank you for your interest in the role of Director of Finance Capability in the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). MPS are transforming our service through ‘A New Met for London’, a strategic plan built on the priorities of more trust, less crime, and high standards. This is a great time to be joining us as we strengthen our finance offer to support the MPS in driving value through the Spending Review period.

 

As part of this transformation, we are seeking an outstanding strategic leader as Director of Finance Capability reporting directly into Adrian Wight, Deputy Chief Finance Officer (DCFO) – a role that is central to modernising our financial operations, building organisational capability, and delivering impactful change for London.

 

This role will lead the capability agenda across Finance Services in the Metropolitan Police Service, drive continuous improvement, and embed best practice across financial governance, service design and workforce development. We are implementing a new operating model now, and this creates a real opportunity for us to develop our career framework and development offer for our staff. 

 

There are also big opportunities coming through technology and a replacement ERP system to enable finance capacity to be freed up to drive value. The post-holder will lead requirement setting for us, in collaboration with Met Business Services and other Met functions. They will champion an innovation mindset and a positive, inclusive culture across the function.
