Introduction
Introduction from the Commissioner, Sir Mark Rowley.
I have been honest about the journey of reform needed at the Met. We need to fundamentally restore our relationships with the communities we serve, putting them at the heart of policing and making sure it is something we do with and alongside them, not to them. We will do that by delivering the strongest ever neighbourhood policing model, by radically improving our service to victims and by setting our frontline up to succeed in a way that makes a difference where it is needed most.
Baroness Louise Casey’s report confirmed shortcomings that had gone unaddressed for too long. She shed light on the ways we were letting communities and victims down, while also showing the strain our frontline faces. I have apologised to all those we have let down but I am positive about the future.
The Met is made up of tens of thousands of amazing officers and staff; a majority of who are dedicated and honest, serving with integrity. We have a shared determination to strengthen Londoners’ trust in the Met and we are focused on determinedly confronting systemic weaknesses so our police service works for the communities we are so proud to serve.
Our New Met for London plan outlines how we will address systemic failures and ensure the Met becomes a service for all Londoners regardless of race, disability, gender or sexual orientation.
We are also focused on setting our workforce up to succeed so they can deliver for London and are well supported in working environments where an inclusive and positive culture sets individuals up to thrive and progress.
We need to build strong foundations to stabilise the organisation and underpin our delivery. As Assistant Director Strategic Finance Business Partner, you will have an active role in working with our senior leaders to build public and organisational confidence and trust, enabling the delivery of professional, effective and efficient policing. Once appointed you will report to Director of Strategic Finance Business Partnering and have a vital part to play in driving the Met’s effectiveness, efficiency and legitimacy to deliver More Trust, Less Crime and High Standards.
London is a fantastic place and we are incredibly proud to serve the people who make this city what it is. It is a diverse, growing and ever-changing place with national impact and international reach. But the scale of our ambition for the future is even greater and more urgent. It has to be, join us on that journey.
