Management and Systems Accountant

£34,000 - £38,000 per annum

Why we’re recruiting for this role

We are looking for a part-qualified Management and Systems Accountant who will work to the Head of Business Partnering and provide a full suite of management accounts and be the lead on the implementation and integration of the ambitious plans to integrate the financial systems. The role will provide 'real time' support and analysis.

 

Finance business partners are an important bridge between the Finance function, management and other areas of the business. They deliver financial information, tools, analysis and insight to executives across the business that equips them with the information they need to make informed decisions that align with company objectives. The Management and Systems Accountant is integral to providing quality information to the team and wider business and identifying opportunities to improve the systems and processes.

What you’ll be doing

  • Owning the end-to-end processes behind budgeting, forecasting and complex financial modelling.

  • Managing and providing support and guidance to the Assistant Management Accountant

  • Preparing management accounts and supporting analysis for the Finance Business Partner and Head of Business Partnering

  • Lead on discrete systems projects which move the function to a more automated financial process, identifying opportunities for integration and working with the IT team to effect real change

  • Identifying opportunities for streamlining of data and reporting and enhancing efficiencies across the department.

  • Promote finance as a supporter of cross functional collaboration across the organisation.

  • Other duties as requested by the line manager

What qualifications we’d expect you to have

This role is open to a part-qualified accountant (eg ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) and study support to a full qualification is offered.

What skills you’ll have

  • Excellent analytical and communication skills both written and verbal

  • Ability to manage staff effectively, although support and training will be given

  • Ability to plan and manage own workload to meet deadlines. The level of detail to be commensurate with the need for the work and resources available.

  • Ability to act as a conduit between Finance and IT, ensuring financial system integration is achieved

  • Ability to work flexibly

  • Ability to maintain focus and drive to resolve issues

  • Able to work to strict deadlines

What you’ll be experienced in

  • Strong financial modelling skills

  • Be a confident communicator, proactive and have excellent Excel skills

  • Highly IT literate, comfortable operating and learning new systems

  • Previous experience of working in a management accounting role

  • Previous experience of the implementation financial systems

  • Comfortable acting as a critical friend to IT colleagues, helping design and leading user acceptance testing

  • Experience of dealing with senior managers both financial and non-financial

  • Experience of providing quality management accounts

  • Experience of working in a complex financial environment with various income streams and volatility of costs across a number of business units

Details of the role

  • This is a full-time role, Monday-Friday, 35 hours per week.

  • It will be offered as a Permanent contract

  • Occasional travel may be required as we have staff based across the UK

  • Occasional overnight stays away from home.

  • Occasional attendance at meetings and events during evenings and weekends.

  • We are currently operating a hybrid working environment with a mixture of office and homeworking in line with government pandemic requirements.
