We came together to bring lasting benefits to everyone in the UK affected by asthma and other lung diseases. We’re a powerful voice for all respiratory diseases for change and to get more, and better, investment in the NHS.

One in five people in the UK have been diagnosed with a lung disease. This means there are approximately 12.7 million people in the UK with a history of a longstanding lung condition. And yet lung health is often taken less seriously than other health matters, so we’re working to change that. Externally we operate two separate charity brands, Asthma UK and the British Lung Foundation, but internally we’re one organisation following our merger 2 years ago, and we’ll be launching a new strategy in early 2022.

Our merger built on earlier joint working that led to real and significant improvements in outcomes for people affected by lung disease. By coming together, we’re now able to invest more in world-leading research, support services, policy development and campaigning.
