Job summary
-
To contribute to the delivery of the server infrastructure in accordance with SLAs.
​
-
The day to day system administration of a number of Clinical Information and Corporate Systems across all customer areas, so as to ensure accurate and timely information is available to staff, management, users and other stakeholders.
​

To work closely with the IT Systems Administration Manager and IT Team so as to ensure that systems are being used to its optimum within the Trust
​
-
To support the systems trainers in the development and delivery of Clinical Information and Corporate Systems training with an appropriate level of participation as and when required.
​

To contribute to and support the operation and maintenance of all corporate server hardware.
​

To contribute to IT policy development, implementation and enforcement.

Key result areas

To assist with maintaining a fully functioning patient systems helpdesk service to all patient systems users (telephone, electronic and on-site as appropriate), including the coordination of cover during core office hours.

To administer all aspects of the patient systems application concomitant with the provision of a high-class user focused service, this may involve work outside of normal working hours.
​

To liaise closely with both internal and external IT helpdesks to maximise systems functioning at all times thereby minimising service disruption.
​

To assist with the systems database and application performance monitoring, across the Trust, and appropriate actions when necessary to address (potential) problem areas.
​

To assist with maintaining the integrity of the various systems databases and data using tools, specific systems, and technical support from systems Suppliers as required.
​

To contribute to the development and maintain appropriate and effective contingency, backup and disaster recovery plans for systems which are to be tested on an annual basis.
​

To maintain server hardware, O/S and patch updates in a timely fashion, to maintain CE+ accreditation.
​

To assist in the maintenance of the security (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability) of all in-house hardware and software.
​

To support the IT Systems Administration Manager in ensuring that all policies and procedures associated with patient systems are being used, escalating issues as appropriate.
​

To ensure that patient/corporate systems are available to deliver the range of performance reports required by IT management and external organisations e.g. NHSD.
​

To attend the national user Groups when required as technical or systems representative.
​

To provide support to the development of systems to support the ever evolving requirements of the Trust.
​

To assist the wider systems teams in the development and delivery of systems training or developments with an appropriate level of participation as and when required.
​

To ensure that support staff working on the systems Support desk, are fully trained, and capable of carrying out all tasks in the absence of the IT Systems Administration Manager.
