About the role
The National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU) leads the UK’s fight against cybercrime and uses specialist capabilities and expertise to support law enforcement partners across the UK and coordinate the entire UK response to cybercrime.
We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Operations Support Officer. The location could be at could be in any of the following NCA office locations: London, Warrington, or Birmingham offices.
Candidates should be aware that NCCU will shortly relocate their team at East Midlands site to Birmingham. Candidates therefore expressing an interest for the East Midlands site will be relocated shortly after taking up their post. Relocation costs will not be provided.
Ops support is responsible for the provision of specialist cyber capability and advice to the Cyber Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) network, NCA Branches and the wider Law Enforcement community, as required. It is the primary vehicle for developing and maintaining operational relationships with Team Cyber UK.
The role sits within the Incident Management and Outreach teams within the National Cyber Crime Unit of the NCA. The post holder will lead a team of Operational Support officers in their work to engage and work collaboratively with the ROCUs and other Law Enforcement Agencies both nationally and internationally in delivering criminal justice outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Provide specialist tactical and technical investigative advice to stakeholders investigating cyber-crime across the UK.

Work with stakeholders across regional, national and international law enforcement to coordinate large-scale operations.

Use their skills as an experienced investigator to ensure that evidence is obtained correctly through the required legal framework (EIO, ILORS, RIPA, PACE )

Work with internal specialist NCCU teams to leverage capability in support of Team Cyber UK investigations.

Build working relationships as appropriate with internal and external stakeholder to support and enhance operational capabilities.

You will also need to demonstrate the below technical and experience criteria:

Good understanding of criminal law and UK legislation affecting Agency activity.

Good understanding of managing investigations utilising Hi Tech or internet-based solutions.

Proven experience of managing intelligence-led investigations delivering criminal justice outcomes.

Extensive experience of partnership working to achieve shared objectives

Experience of leading/supervising experienced investigators and intelligence officers

An understanding of NCCU capabilities

The ideal candidate will hold police powers

An understanding of cryptocurrencies and experience of investigating the criminal use of the technology

The NCA is a 24/7 organization, and working patterns must support business requirements. You may be required to respond at short notice or outside of core hours.

Individuals will be required to undertake and pass a substance misuse test as part of pre-employment checks

The successful individual will need to have a valid SC Vetting clearance at the point of entrance or be willing to take and pass the Agency’s vetting clearance process at SC Level checks
