About the Threat Leadership Directorate

Rob Jones.png

Rob Jones is the NCA Director Threat Leadership, supported by three Deputy Directors responsible for specific threat areas.

Threat Leadership is responsible for the national response to the Serious and Organised Crime threats. Our role is to work with partners both inside the NCA and externally to set the strategic direction, facilitate effective delivery of the response, and ensure we understand the impact of our activity. It involves:

  • Adopting a threat led and intelligence driven approach, identifying emerging challenges and changes to the threat landscape

  • Creating and maintaining strong, influential relationships both within the NCA and with partners, such as Strategic Governance Groups

  • Setting priorities, directing and amplifying the most effective and appropriate  response to Prepare, Prevent, Protect and Pursue through the Strategic Action Plans and roles and responsibility grids

  • Developing national capabilities and our non-Pursue capabilities

The Threat leadership command comprises the National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU), Child Exploitation On-line Protection team (CEOP), Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking (MSHT), Organised Immigration Crime (OIC), Borders, Firearms and Drugs threats, the UK Protected Persons Service (UKPPS) and the Threat Management Team.

One of the key objectives is to tackle Serious and Organised Crime threats by maximising the benefit of new capability across the system. This approach means we can achieve more with the resources we have and be more effective developing business cases to enhance our response.
