About the role
The Chief Data Office (CDO) is based within Digital Data & Technology (DDaT). We are responsible for managing the NCA corporate record and information holdings, whilst ensuring the NCA can confidently identify, discharge and comply with its legal information management responsibilities.
We develop strategy and set standards in gathering, storing, processing, analysing and disseminating information. We manage information access requests from the public and third party disclosure requests from other prosecuting authorities in respect of on-going enquiries/operations. We are also responsible for co-ordinating the NCA response to major statutory and public inquiries.
Our role is to protect the public from the most serious criminal threats. As an NCA officer you can make a difference! We are currently looking to recruit a Data, Information Governance and Policy Senior Manager at our London site.
Key Responsibilities
As part of a team of information management professionals, you will be using your skills and expertise to:

To lead a team and organisational capability responsible for providing Information, Data and Records Management direction, support and governance in support of the National Crime Agency’s (NCA’s) strategic objectives.

Manage the NCA’s information and data responsibilities under the Data Protection Act (DPA) 1998, Investigatory Powers Tribunal (IPT), Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) 2004 and work with partners to protect our exemption under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and other relevant legislation.

Support the key Information and Risk governance stakeholder such as Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO), Data Protection Officer, Departmental Records Officer and Information Asset Owner in discharging their responsibilities around identifying and mitigating Information Risk working closely with Information Assurance and ICT colleagues to identify and reduce the risk in relation to our management of Information and Records.

You will also need to demonstrate the below technical criteria:

Report writing/drafting skills to Board Level, with ability to manage and prioritise multiple areas of work.

Broad knowledge of relevant legislation affecting information management and records activity particularly as it relates to law enforcement and UKIC.
You will also have the below qualifications or experience:

Practical experience of working in an Information and Data Environment and Records Management.

Demonstrate experience and understanding of Data Protection and Legislation, Information and Records Management

Desirable criteria:

Professional Qualification in Information Records Management, Risk or other relevant area.

Membership of relevant professional information and/ or Records Management Association/ body.

To be considered, you will need to successfully complete a SC Enhanced clearance before commencing the role with the ability to obtain a DV clearance within the first 12 months in post.

Individuals will be required to undertake and pass a substance misuse test as part of pre-employment checks.

The NCA is a 24/7 organisation, and working patterns must support business requirements. You may be required to respond at short notice or outside of core hours.

On occasions officers may be required to travel throughout the UK and overseas.
