Head of Research Finance
This is an unique opportunity to help the ICR's research leadership team meet its strategic objectives to grow, diversify and improve how it manages external research funding. The Head of Research Finance will manage a comprehensive pre and post award research finance service to scientific budget holders and senior management. This includes oversight of the financial administration of scientific grants, providing leadership, coaching and guidance to a team of 8 grant accounting staff.
You will work closely with research team leaders to ensure we make best use of grant funding, and comply with the requirements of our funders. You will also will work closely with colleagues in the Research Support Unit and Research Operations, and build strong relationships with the Institute’s main funders.
You will make a significant contribution to the ongoing development and improvement of the ICR’s award management processes, with responsibility for key areas of the research costing and pricing system, and finance system.
To succeed, you must be a professionally qualified accountant with strong technical skills, an analytical approach and significant experience dealing with senior stakeholders. You will be a proven team leader, with significant experience of research and/ or grant finance.
The role will report into the Deputy Director of Finance.
Finance Business Partner - Corporate Services
This is an important new roles, created to develop the financial management capacity of the ICR's Corporate Services, Academic Services, and Development Office to deliver key elements of the ICR Operational Strategy.
The Finance Business Partner (Corporate Services) will provide critical management information and advice to budget holders and Corporate Directors, working with them to deliver effective business planning and management of resources across the key support functions of the Institute.
The role also includes supporting the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis in the management and development of the monthly reporting timetable and processes to ensure that key reporting deliverables are met in line with Senior Management and Trustee requirements.
The post will report to the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis.
Senior Research Accountant
This is an exciting opportunity to help the ICR’s world-leading cancer research scientists to manage and grow the funding for their work.
Our senior Research Accountants provide a financial management service to Research Team Leaders to support them in the management of their external research funding, including funding from research grants, external funding for studentships and fellowships, and collaborations with NHS and Industrial Partners.
This will include the provision of critical management information and advice to Heads of Division and Research Team leaders on externally funded activities, supporting them to deliver fully costed grant applications, and meet the requirements of the ICR and of external funders in the application and reporting of these funds.
The Senior Research Accountants will also help improve processes and ways of working within the Research Finance team, to drive efficiency and maximise impact of our work.
The role reports into the Head of Research Finance.
Research Accountant x 2
This is an exciting opportunity to join the ICR’s Research Finance team, and help our research teams to make best use of their external research funding. The Research Accountants will be part of an effective Research Finance management and compliance service to Research Team Leaders.
This will include assisting in the provision of critical management information to Heads of Division and Research Team leaders on externally funded activities, and supporting them to adhere to key financial controls and processes in the administration of their awards.
The Research Accountants will also help improve processes and ways of working within the Research Finance team, to drive efficiency and
maximise impact.
The roles will report into a Senior Research Accountant.
