Thank you for your interest in joining the Institute of Cancer Research finance department. The whole organisation is currently embarking on an exciting new set of programmes to speed up and sustain our progress in defeating cancer. In particular, the professional service departments are implementing a new Operational Strategy to develop how we work alongside our world leading scientists to power the research.

As part of this programme, we have reviewed our financial planning and business partnering capacity, and created two new teams within the finance department that will provide the specialist, high quality financial management support that our research and corporate team leaders require.

​

We have created a dedicated Research Finance team to better enable scientific teams to effectively manage and maximise their use of external funding to realise their research aims as well as meet the requirements of funders and other key stakeholders. We are recruiting a senior manager to lead this team, as well as a Senior Research Accountant and two Research Accountants.  These vacancies therefore represent an opportunity for financial professionals at different stages of their career path, but with a shared interest in helping to deliver life-changing science, to work at the heart of research investment decision-making at the top ranked Research Institution in the UK.

We have also created an expanded Financial Planning & Analysis team to deliver the financial planning and management information required to ensure that the ICR is able to meet its strategic objectives whilst remaining sustainable in the long term. The ICR’s operational strategy includes key programmes to develop creative ways to grow income from fund-raising and from commercial collaborations. It also includes programmes to develop the effectiveness of its core operational functions.  The Financial Planning & Analysis team is therefore recruiting a Finance Business Partner- Corporate Services to work with our Corporate teams and support them in planning, funding and implementation of these strategies.

It is therefore a really exciting time to join the ICR Finance department. You will be part of a team of highly motivated financial professionals who share the ICR’s goal of ensuring that we continue to provide a world-class environment for researchers, and who all ultimately contribute to our mission to make the discoveries that defeat cancer.
