This is an exciting time to be joining the Barnet finance team as we are well on our way on our transformation journey. After insourcing the finance service, earlier in the year, we knew that there was work to do to shape the team and our service offering to best meet the Council’s aspirations. We started off by developing a new vision:

“To drive impact and create a better Barnet through innovative financial leadership”. This vision represents our ambition and forms the foundation for everything we are striving to achieve in the coming years. We have since developed a fit-for-purpose structure and business plan to guide us along our journey.

We know that we cannot achieve our goals without the support of our people and are therefore committed to investing in and empowering our team. We believe in collaboration, sharing knowledge, skills and experience across the team to achieve our goals. We strive for excellence and aren’t afraid to fail in pursuit of continuous improvement and innovation. ​Barnet is the largest borough in London by population, and is also extremely diverse - over 180 languages are spoken in our schools. The council is committed to improving services whilst also investing in the borough – Cricklewood Brent Cross is one of the capital’s major regeneration schemes, and among the most significant new developments in Europe.
