Thank you for your interest in working for the Office for Communications Data Authorisations (OCDA).

Amanda Jeffery, CEO

We are an independent arm’s length body of the Home Office, created in 2019 and responsible for considering all applications for access to communications data made by relevant authorities in the UK.  This includes law enforcement bodies and wider public authorities such as the Financial Conduct Authority.

Communications data is information about a communication, but not the content of that communication.  It is used in 95% of serious and organised crime prosecutions and provides essential information in all major counter-terrorism investigations.  The rules around access to communications data are rigorous and tightly controlled and OCDA has a vital role in ensuring they are upheld.

We are committed to supporting our team to deliver its important work.  You can expect detailed training and opportunities for your continuing professional development.  We offer a supportive and flexible working environment and we welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds.  Working for OCDA will give you an important role in keeping people safe, making a key contribution to protecting the public and helping to maintain the high quality work of the team.  I look forward to seeing your application.

Sir Brian Leveson,

Investigatory Powers Commissioner

I am responsible for the oversight of the use of investigatory powers by public authorities and, as part of this, for the Office for Communications Data Authorisations (OCDA).  OCDA plays an essential role in ensuring that proper scrutiny is applied to the access to and use of communications data by law enforcement bodies.  I am determined that the public should trust in the decisions that are made about the use of intrusive powers while still having confidence that law enforcement bodies can fulfil their important role in ensuring public safety.  This means OCDA staff must work to the very highest standards and the diligence and judgement of the successful candidates will be vital to achieving this aim.  I thank you for your interest in this role.
