Thank you for your interest in joining the Lewisham Finance Team.
I joined Lewisham in September 2020 and no two days have been the same. I spent the first 6 months understanding the organisation, my colleagues, our Members but most importantly my team. Having concluded a review of Finance that seeks to increase our strategic capacity and technical expertise, I’m now looking to recruit to a number of roles to build on the strength of my existing team and deliver my vision for Finance. To me, Finance is one of the key enablers of how we deliver our Corporate Plan and the Future Lewisham programme.

How we recover post pandemic will be a challenge for all of Local Government but we must look beyond simply “recovering” to the pre-pandemic state – recovery alone would ingrain the inequities that existed beforehand. Through effective financial management, turning how we deliver services on its head through the lens of our residents and communities, Finance will play a pivotal role in what we do and how we do it; working in collaboration with colleagues to create efficient and sustainable change that ultimately improves outcomes for our residents.

Lewisham is a values-led Council - We’re proud to be the UK’s first Borough of Sanctuary, which recognises our values of inclusion and equality. It’s our people that make it so special. We’ve got strong communities and we’re one of the most diverse boroughs in the country. Lewisham is also a cultural hotbed, and we’re excited to be the London Borough of Culture next year.

Of course we face significant challenges too, and we’re looking for committed and resilient finance professionals who are passionate about local government and who pride themselves in driving through whole-system improvement, to take on these roles. From delivering our transformation programmes, continuing to balance the budget through to supporting our ambitious capital investment aspirations for Catford and wider across the borough there is a wealth of opportunity for people joining our team.
