Welcome

Thank you for showing an interest in this role.

We are looking for an influential Head of Procurement to join our team and help us achieve our future ambitions for Cambridgeshire, the fastest growing county in England.

Cambridgeshire is a diverse place home to the cities of Cambridge and Ely, historic market towns and a rural landscape. This is an exciting time for Cambridgeshire, a hub of science, innovation and culture but with a key challenge to narrow the gap in outcomes and opportunities between the most affluent and more deprived parts of the county.

Cambridgeshire County Council is ambitious about the way in which we can support and shape the future success of our communities. We want people to live independently and safely within strong and inclusive communities and with networks of support that they can call on – even in the face of increasing challenges. The Council spends in excess of £1bn per year across a diverse range of services, from supporting older people and children in care, to streetlighting and libraries. With relatively low levels of central government funding, effective procurement is essential to sustaining efficient service provision.

Following a return to in-house arrangements earlier in 2021, we have embarked on a re-organisation and re-orientation of the procurement team, moving to becoming a solution based, pro-active team working with internal clients to deliver outcomes, not to tell them what they can’t do, but how we can achieve their goals.

We have a strong, stable and experienced procurement team who have welcomed the change in culture and have embraced the higher profile procurement is taking within the organisation.

We are now seeking a procurement leader and innovator to carry on this journey and further improve Cambridgeshire procurement.
