The formation of the new Cambridgeshire Procurement Team creates a great opportunity for a new Head of Procurement to build the develop the team, processes systems and culture of procurement for the council.

​

As we move to our brand new office in Alconbury at the beginning of September creating a great working atmosphere, which will eventually allow us to operate our flexible working with two to three days in the office and the rest home based, once the Covid situation is clearer.

​

Work has commenced to implement a Category Approach across the council and there is a strong willingness to work more closely with procurement as the culture changes from one of regulation to innovation.

​

Key tasks will be to:

• Embed Social Value

• Develop the Procurement Strategy

• Roll out training for services

• Roll out more pro-active procurement through introducing Category Plans, Procurement Plans, improved activity schedule and earlier engagement with clients

• Continue to provide clear risk-based procurement support

 

​The current team is stable and experienced the majority are MCIPS, we are also adding two new posts for graduate trainees.
