Thank you for your interest in the post of Chief Operating Officer at BBC Media Action. 

 

It is a critical role and the new COO will be key in working with me and the other three members of the Management Team as it continues to grow, both in size and - more importantly - in the impact it achieves.

I have been with Media Action for nearly ten years and never thought I would stay so long!   

 

A combination of the excitement of the work, the fascinating mix of colleagues from development, media, academia and the commercial sector and the sense that we are truly bringing about change has kept me here.  And being part of the BBC while also an independent charity offers huge possibilities – as well as come challenges (and the chance to meet famous faces over a cup of tea!).

BBC Media Action is approaching its twentieth anniversary so is still a young organisation. It has grown fast and is still growing so the COO will be key in ensuring that our business model, processes and policies adapt accordingly.  Compliance demands from donors around safeguarding and many other areas have increased exponentially in the last year and we need to keep ahead of these changes.

​

The COO will work closely with the Finance and Audit Committee which is central to the governance of the organisation.  It will be important to develop good relationships with trustees as well as with the teams that the COO will manage and colleagues across BBC Media Action.

​
