Welcome and thank you for your interest in the role of Director of Finance and Resources at the V&A.

The V&A is the world’s leading museum of art, design and performance, with a vision to inspire imagination and ingenuity at its heart.

National collections including ceramics and glass, furniture and woodwork, watercolours, miniatures, sculpture, silver, jewellery and metalwork, are all held at the V&A, and the museum has a national and international reputation for its research, exhibitions and FuturePlan capital programme. The Board of Trustees has statutory responsibilities to care for, preserve and add to the collections; to ensure that the collections are made available to the public; to add to the body of knowledge relevant to the collections through research; and to disseminate that knowledge.

The new Director of Finance and Resources will play a pivotal role in delivering that mission, leading a multi-disciplinary team of specialists to provide an effective, efficient and proactive collection of corporate services, enabling the museum to achieve its ambitious curatorial and commercial goals for the future.

This is a very senior and strategic role, with overall responsibility for resources, and for the finances of one of the world’s most successful museums. Working closely with the Deputy Director and COO and the Executive Board, there is involvement in all aspects of museum life, from day to day financial control to large capital projects. The V&A is entering a five-year period of rapid and unparalleled expansion. We are launching Phase 3 of FuturePlan, extending beyond the V&A at South Kensington to the Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green, and the once in a lifetime opportunity and challenge of a new ‘V&A East’ as part of the East Bank development in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. This creates the agenda for an experienced and influential finance professional to join the team. We are looking for an individual who can develop key relationships within and beyond the museum, deploying their expertise, experience and flair to marshal our resources behind an exciting and diverse programme of development, and a hugely popular cultural attraction.

If you believe you have the experience and inspirational team leadership skills we are looking for, I would welcome your application.
