Hours: 37.5 per week (part-time will be considered)

About the role
You will lead the Financial Control and Operations Team.
​

Efficient, timely and accurate financial transactional processing.

Effective treasury management.

Accurate and timely year end accounts produced in line with the latest SORP.

Successful year end audits with minimal disruption to Shelter.

A robust framework of financial controls which helps both safeguard Shelter’s resources and ensure accuracy of management information.

An engaged, motivated and effective Financial Control and Operations Team who are supported to drive their own development.

Compliance with laws and regulations relating to finance and tax.

Required knowledge, skills and experience
-
Professional accountancy qualification (CCAB or overseas equivalent).
​

Experience of leading a team.
​
-
Significant experience of being responsible for a financial controls framework.
​

Significant experience of leading the year-end process, including accounts production and the external audit.
​
-
Excellent attention to detail, a high level of numeracy and intermediate MS Excel skills.
​
-
Excellent time management, including an ability to work to deadlines and prioritise tasks when circumstances change.
​

Proficiency in the main MS Office applications including Outlook and Word.
​

High level of expertise in charity finance, laws and regulations, and taxation.
​

Experience of using accounting software (Unit 4 Business World desirable).
​
