Thank you for your interest in joining us at The National Gallery.

The National Gallery exists so that people can engage with great art. It is a public museum with a uniquely important collection of pictures for the benefit of all. The National Gallery constitutes a living legacy of humanity’s highest cultural achievements in painting and is an inestimable resource for understanding the world as we have inherited it.

We want to share this resource, and our enthusiasm for it, with the widest possible audience. Millions of people now visit the National Gallery every year and we reach many more online. We are committed to the idea of the National Gallery as a place of learning and enjoyment and we aim to realize the Gallery’s potential as a source of inspiration for this and future generations.

We have an ambitious strategy underpinned by exciting capital development plans that will transform the Gallery’s ability to showcase the world’s greatest artworks as well as improving the visitor experience and providing new modern working spaces for our staff.

We are now seeking to appoint a Head of Finance and a Finance and Operations Manager who will together lead the internal efficient running of the Finance team and ensure it is fit for purpose. These roles will be instrumental in supporting the Gallery’s strategic aspirations by enabling the finance team to become a high performing function.

As such you will be experienced and process-minded with a strong financial acumen. You will bring a track record of developing high performance culture. You will focus on priorities, maintain a strong grip on our sound financial management and provide timely information and advice to the Finance Director, the rest of the senior management team and board of trustees. Importantly, you will have the skills, sensitivity, and personal confidence to achieve the Finance team’s potential. While it is essential that the Finance team brings efficient and effective systems to support the productivity of the organisation, it is also critical that the team has the tenacity and creative spark that can challenge the status-quo.

If you have the skills, experience and attributes to make these roles a success we look forward to hearing from you.
