The role is responsible for producing the group statutory accounts and supporting monthly financial reporting for the organisation. As well as maintaining & developing financial controls and providing assistance during the annual budget and reforecast process. Support financial decision-making information by collecting, processing, analysing, investigating, and reporting financial data to key internal and external stakeholder. perform management duties and actively contribute to Lumos’s financial, operations and strategic plans.

Job Purpose

Job Objectives

  • Line management of Finance Officer

  • Responsible for timely year end process and preparation of the annual consolidated statutory financial statements, including liaising with the auditors and dealing with audit queries

  • Completion of timely month end process to trail balance which includes review of monthly nominal activity report before month end closing and providing systems report to the assigned budget holders at request

  • Manage monthly Royalty income schedule to ensure accurate quarterly/annual income forecast

  • Manage and oversees creditors and staff payment runs

  • Ensuring that all balance sheets accounts are reconciled monthly and any differences are dealt with accordingly, including intercompany, fixed asset register, fundraising income and restricted schedule reconciliations

  • Responsible for Quarterly VAT Returns and Royalty tax statements

  • Provide data and assist with the preparation of annual budgets and reforecasts

  • Manage monthly Branch returns and cash transfers

  • Payroll administration to include monthly review, authorisation, journal and staff allocation and international staff and tax payments

  • Provide timely information for grant reporting

  • Maintaining and developing financial controls, procedures and policies

  • Maintain relationship with the bank’s relationship management and external auditors

Scope

  • This role would assume financial accountant responsibilities with greater emphasis placed on the growing international dimensions of that role.

  • This is a new role and flexibility will be required to meet changing priorities.

  • This role will require provide support to the System accountant with the new Finance System.

Knowledge:

 

  • Charity Law and SORP

  • In depth knowledge of financial regulations and legislation 

  • Familiarity with UK and International tax laws and tax preparation methods

  • Demonstrable evidence of strong financial and commercial understanding of managing large contracts and budgets and the business acumen to monitor financial performance and achieve efficiencies

  • Key people management processes including performance and competency assessment

  • Sound ICT skills

Experience:

 

  • 3 years’ experience of working as a financial accountant

  • Experience of working in a growing international organisation

  • Extensive experience in financial operational management both on a day to day level and at strategic level 

  • System change

Qualification:

 

  • ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualified
