The Council has set 5 big ambitions and 20 challenges in our Borough Plan and you will play a key role in driving and supporting all the activities to meet these challenges and make Lambeth the best place to live and work in London for people from any background.

 

Our vision for finance is to act as a proactive driver of change, ensuring that finance is at the heart of decision making. Finance has a key role in the management of Council resources; protecting value, providing strong stewardship of public funds and borough assets; driving value, ensuring every pound is spent in the most effective and efficient way; adding value, engaging with councillors, colleagues and other stakeholders to provide insightful analysis to inform and influence decision making.

 

Naturally, we need to attract a candidate with a recognised qualification and extensive practical finance experience. As important as your technical skills will be, your positive attitude and approach to innovation is just as important. We need an open and collaborative leader, who embraces and champions opportunities for change and improvement who naturally looks to build strong and engaging relationships with council teams and partners across the wider public service and external third party partners and suppliers.

 

You will also want to play an active part in the senior leadership of the Finance & Property division as well as the overall Finance and Investment directorate, working as an integral part of a team to provide high quality customer focused services across the council.
