Welcome to The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames
A number of exciting opportunities now available in our Finance team.
Thank you for your interest in working in the finance team at the Royal Borough of Kingston-uponThames.
Kingston is a borough with many thriving diverse communities, rich in history and heritage and full of potential for our future. Our vision is working with partners and communities to ensure the borough is Fairer, Safer, Greener, Together. We have a Future Council commitment to ensure that the council is ready for what lies ahead, is managed effectively and responsibly in the best interests of our communities and delivery is supported by high quality services.
Here in Kingston, we are undertaking the largest housing regeneration programme ever delivered in the borough, building new energy efficient housing that will transform some of our oldest Council owned housing. We have publicly committed to doing what we can to tackle the climate emergency and are investing in new technologies and societal change that will help bring carbon emissions down and improve our climate impact.
In the current financial environment, we face similar financial challenges to many other local authorities, with demand-led pressures in adult social care, children’s social care and temporary accommodation. We are in a strong place to tackle these challenges though and are working collaboratively to identify solutions to ensure the Council’s financial sustainability.
Our finance team is central to the Council’s delivery of financial sustainability and our business partnering team works closely with other departments to provide support, advice and challenge on financial matters. The team is part of a shared service with the London Borough of Sutton, which gives great opportunities to build networks and learn from each other. The Business Partnering teams are specific to each Council in the partnership, enabling us to tailor our support to each Council’s specific needs - in this case, for Kingston.
We can offer a supportive working environment with a clear sense of purpose and a focus on communities. We want to continue to build on our local relationships and work alongside and enable our communities to continue to support our resilient and thriving borough. We are immensely proud of our borough, and we care deeply about our responsibilities.
We hope that our new appointments into the finance service will help drive forward a financially sustainable organisation for the future.
We wish you the best of luck with your application.
