Head of Treasury and Pensions

As the Head of Treasury and Pensions, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial future of the Council. You will lead the Council’s Treasury Management activities and oversee the strategic management of the Local Government Pension Scheme. This role offers the chance to manage investment strategies, pension fund accounting, cash management, and drive improvements in financial processes and systems. Your expertise will be invaluable in advising on pension fund-related activities and supporting various internal committees. This is a unique opportunity to significantly impact and work with key stakeholders, including Pension Fund Managers and Actuaries.

Chief Accountant

The Chief Accountant will be at the forefront of our financial operations, leading all matters related to accountancy, including the closedown of the Council’s accounts and the production of the Council’s Statement of Accounts. You will ensure we adhere to the latest guidance, audit requirements, and best practices for financial reporting. This role involves managing a dedicated team responsible for the upkeep and development of the Council’s Asset Register, the control and maintenance of the General Ledger, accounting for the Collection Fund, and overseeing the provision of VAT/Tax advice. You will also be the primary contact for external auditors and play a crucial role in the accounting and reporting of the Council’s overall revenue and capital budgets.
