Welcome

Dear Candidate,

2020 was a year of profound disruption which continues to fundamentally challenge many of the certainties on which we have built our collective response to sustainability issues. It also represents an opportunity to truly build back differently by taking transformative action that places sustainability at the heart of the systems on which we rely, to reset ambition so that the focus shifts to the truly just and regenerative future need, The choices we make in the next six to eighteen months will either enable a deep, systemic transformation, or they will entrench a short-term, incremental-change approach that will present inherent risks and fail to address the climate, biodiversity and social crises we all face.

Forum for the Future is a leading international sustainability non-profit, employing eighty people across our four locations in India, Singapore, the US and the UK. For 25 years we’ve been working in partnership with business, governments and civil society to accelerate transformation toward a just and regenerative future. Through our programmes we are actively catalysing change on key global challenges and building the capacity of individuals and organisations to act more systemically. At this critical moment in time, we are working with actors across all sectors to imagine a radically different future and understand their role in change.

We are looking for an inspirational, collaborative, values-led Chief Operating Officer to deliver effective, enabling operational leadership across Forum as we seek to model, as an organisation, the transformation we aim to enable in the world. Together with our senior management team and myself, as well as our Board of Trustees, you will ensure the delivery of our operational plans and enable and inspire a thriving and resilient organisation.

You will have experience in leading a range of support functions in an international organisation. You will have experience of different funding types and business models and a thorough understanding of UK charity law and governance. Just as critical for us are the personal qualities that enable effective working in a matrixed international structure: a collaborative approach, an inspirational leadership style, a commitment to equality and diversity and a committment on both personal and organisational learning.

If you believe you have what it takes to succeed in this role, please apply.
