About us

What we do

We work directly with thousands of homeless people every year. We provide vital help so that people can rebuild their lives and are supported out of homelessness for good. We offer one to one support, advice and courses for homeless people in 12 areas across England, Scotland and Wales. How we help someone depends on their individual needs and situation. It could be with finding a home and settling in, getting new skills and finding a job, or help with their health and wellbeing. We use research to find out how best to improve our services, but also to find wider solutions to homelessness. Together with homeless people and Crisis supporters, we campaign for the changes needed to end homelessness for good.

How we work

Every bit of our work is integrated, and all contributes to our purpose of ending homelessness. The services we provide are carefully informed through our decades of experience of working with homeless people, and the research we've carried out over the years. Our research is driven by our knowledge from working side-by-side with homeless people every day. And this influences our campaigning for permanent change.

Our services

We support people out of homelessness for good. We do this through education, training and support with housing, employment and health. We offer one to one support, advice and courses for homeless people in 12 areas across England, Scotland and Wales.

Housing

We help homeless people find and keep a rented home. We do this by working with landlords to ensure a supply of places to live, and giving homeless people the tools and knowledge they need to rent successfully.

Our Housing resource centre provides information and training for housing professionals. The Help to Rent database lists private sector renting schemes across the UK.

Research and campaigning

We carry out pioneering research into the causes and consequences of homelessness, and campaign for the changes needed to end it for everyone, for good.

The plan to end homelessness

Working with others, we're producing a plan to end homelessness once and for all.

Our plans and goals

Our latest strategy does not represent a sudden change in direction for Crisis, but a continued evolution of the direction we have been developing over the last few years. It reflects a change of emphasis: from growing the capacity of our services to maximising the impact of what we do, outlining the role we will play in ending homelessness in Great Britain.

Our priorities for 2018-2023:

  • Ensure that the policy changes needed to end homelessness are adopted

  • Ensure that governments in England, Scotland and Wales adopt national plans for ending homelessness

  • Demonstrate that homelessness can be ended in local areas

  • End the homelessness of more people through our direct services

  • End homelessness for more people who are excluded from help or have complex needs
