Senior Finance Analyst - Capital & Treasury

These posts support the Capital and Treasury function and therefore impacts all areas of the Council. As part of a small team within Finance you will be responsible for all aspects of financial services relating to capital expenditure and financing, capital monitoring and reporting, treasury management activities as well as some project/programme management. 

These important roles will involve working closely with the programme managers and sponsors in the delivery of key strategic projects.  You will need good knowledge of statutory financial reporting requirements and financial regulations combined with proven experience of local authority accounting, however I would also encourage recently qualified candidates who have the energy and willingness to learn and develop their skills. 

There are a number of exciting projects on the go at the moment. We have an ambitious £800m multi-year capital programme and are in the process of developing a capital pipeline. This will include significant investment in new housing, schools expansions, roads and highways, major regeneration schemes and the funding of our housing company Invest for Brent (I4B). In order to pay for all this we will need to borrow, so alongside this we are developing our borrowing and investment strategy and considering the many different options available to us.

In a climate of increasing budgetary pressures and regulatory changes, these roles are key to delivering the Councils objectives. To complement an already strong finance function, what I need are candidates who can cope with – in fact thrive on – working at pace to deliver multiple and complex objectives.
