Grants Finance Partner

£46,000 - £48,000 per annum

Job Aim

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Information Systems, the Grants Finance Partner will, while operating within a business partnering framework, manage the financial aspects of the Foundation’s grants and programmes portfolio, with a particular focus on high value (£250k+) applications

Responsibilities, including but not limited to:

 

  • Working closely with the Grants and Programmes Directors and Programme Heads (PHs),lead the financial review of high value (£250k+) grant applications

  • Manage the legal and contractual framework of Foundation’s high value grants and contracts, including liaising with grantee contract teams where appropriate

  • Design, implement and operate financial processes relating to the full grants management cycle 

  • Develop financial analysis to facilitate assessment of impact and value for money by working closely with the Directors and PHs

  • Establish and manage an effective cash-flow forecasting mechanism for live grants

  • Develop, implement and manage a grants financial closure process

  • Lead the financial process review for the grant management system and its interface to financial systems

  • Provide proactive business partnering support to budget holders who are responsible for ‘internal grants’ (eg Nuffield Council on Bioethics, Student Programmes, Ada Lovelace Institute, Nuffield Family Justice Observatory)

Experience

  • Extensive experience in a similar role within a business partnering environment (E)

  • Solid experience of developing financial project delivery with a range of internal and external stakeholders from finance and non-finance backgrounds (E)

  • Experience of managing multiple projects (E)

  • Experience in a grant-making organisation (HD)

  • Experience of Key Performance Indicators, monitoring, evaluation and learning in a grant management environment (HD)

Knowledge and Skills 

  • Able to manage multiple competing deadlines and objectives calmly and confidently (E)
