We are advertising two different but equally exciting roles with the Council – Finance Director and Head of Customer Contact.

​

Barking and Dagenham is a New Kind of Council. Over the past four years we have gone through an ambitious transformation programme to ensure we are capable of delivering real change with our community. Although a lot of improvements have been made, resulting in us winning LGC Driving Growth award and Council of Year in 2018 and LGC Entrepreneurial Council of the Year 2019, there is still more to do.  This new Kind of Council is not your traditional hierarchical structure rather a grouping of different service delivery units, some inhouse and some wholly owned companies and at the heart of them is the Core.   These roles sit within this Core, which we are establishing to be more commercial, sustainable and customer orientated. We are looking for energetic, forward thinking and committed individuals to join us to consolidate and build upon the work already done and help us shape the future.

The roles :-

Finance Director

You will act as Deputy S151 Officer and lead the finance function, you will play a key role in driving our continuous improvement and commercial thinking forward. You will be a credible advisor, providing professional expertise and strategic direction, ensuring that the Council, its elected members and officers get the advice and support they need to fulfil the Council’s vision and at the same time develop the finance team to be one that meet the needs of all of our partners.

Head of Customer Contact

This new role will be the customer champion, working across a broad range of operational and strategic stakeholder relationships, making decisions on service delivery and providing guidance to key strategic decision-makers to secure the successful delivery of Council services.  You will proactively identify areas for improvement and develop a continuous cycle of improvement. You will have the responsibility and authority to work with the Senior Leadership Team and challenge programme delivery across all customer services.
